Dr. Antonis Vasileiadis
Orthopaedic - Surgeon, MD, MSc, PhD
Born in the city of Thessaloniki in 1958. Graduated high school in the city of Drama in 1976. Graduated medical school of Cluj-Napoca University in 1984, with honours “cum laude”, and after successful equality (parity) examination with the medical degree of the University of Athens medical school in 1985, he was granted the licence to practice medical profession.
From 1986 to 1991 he received training in Orthopaedic Surgery specialisation at 2nd Orthopaedic Clinic of Athens Navy Hospital (1986 - 1988) and at the Orthopaedic Clinic of the University of Athens (1988 - 1991) at K.A.T hospital.
In 1991, following successful exams, he was granted licence to practice Orthopaedic Surgery. From February 1992 until August 1993 he worked at Horton General Hospital in Banbury and at Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford U.K., in the Hand Surgery Department.
After his return to Greece he worked as Visiting Fellow in the Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery Clinic of K.A.T Hospital, under supervision (director) of Dr. N. Daoutis. During the same period he prepared and developed his Doctoral thesis with the subject “Management of unstable nonunions of the scaphoid according to Herbert technique". In 1998 he was awarded the title Ph.D. of the University of Athens.
From 1999 until 2001 he worked as a Consultant in the Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery Clinic of K.A.T Hospital, Athens. In 2001, in collaboration with Dr. N. Daoutis, they founded the Hand Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery Department at the Athens Metropolitan Hospital.
He currently works at Metropolitan Hospital and sees patients at his private clinic at Glyfada. He is an active member of the Greek Society for Surgery of the Hand and Greek Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, member of the British Society of Hand Surgery and also member of the Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand.
